workshop machine shop Our comprehensive machining facilities enable us to undertake most aspects of mechanical overhaul on the premises. We have considerable experience in reclaiming worn or damaged parts as well as manufacturing new items where necessary.

Since many older vehicles relied upon careful hand fitting in their original manufacture, these skills are equally important today. The first picture below shows an early stage in the manufacture of new main bearings for a Delage car. Here the bronze backing shells are being turned as two halves on a mandrel. In the second picture the shells have been white metalled and line bored in the crankcase. They are shown during the hand scraping process where engineer's blue is used to achieve a 100 percent working surface of the shell when viewed with the naked eye.

Lancia Clutch

Where reconditioned units are no longer available we can restore the original to "as new" condition. This is the clutch pressure plate from a Lancia Aurelia. It has been reground on the friction surface, worn pins have been renewed and holes reamed oversize. Suitable new springs have been fitted and the assembly is ready for fitting with a relined centre plate.

Bellows

On the right is a control bellows for a Rolls Royce shock absorber from a Bentley R Type manufactured in 1954. We were able to find a manufacturer to produce new convoluted sections. The original top and bottom fittings have been soldered in place using jigs manufactured by us.

We are able to undertake overhauls engines, gearboxes, drivetrains and rear axles, suspension and steering, brakes and all other aspects of vintage and classic vehicles.
